Lithic soils in the semi-arid region of Brazil: edaphic characterization and susceptibility to erosion

چکیده
Soils (Leptosols or Epileptic Regosols) with lithic contact at a depth of 50 cm occupy almost 20% the Brazilian semi-arid region. These soils are susceptible to erosion due faster saturation water-holding capacity during rainfall, which accelerates beginning runoff. However, traits in region Brazil less studied. The aim this study was characterize soil and landscape attributes areas Neossolos Litólicos (Entisols) Caatinga biome identify high susceptibility erosion. Results showed that were characterized by sandy texture, structure poor development low content organic carbon. increase reduce water storage capacity, especially states Ceará Sergipe. In these states, rock fragments reaches 790 g/kg. High contents silt fine sand, silt/clay ratio, predominance Leptosols strong rainfall erosivity observed Piauí northwestern Ceará. A very degree Pernambuco Paraíba. Despite state Bahia, it is highly shallow soils, rugged relief values erosivity. Lower vulnerability Alagoas because its more smoothed relief, greater effective depth, thicker horizon lower general, characteristics intensify those structures without aggregation, carbon, ratio some regions. This collected information contributing better characterization Brazil. addition, regions higher identified, revealing insights could help develop strategies for environmental risk mitigation.

Determination of Susceptibility to Rill and Interrill Erosion of some Semi-Arid Soils using Rainfall Simulator in Laboratory Conditions
In semi-arid regions, soils are weakly aggregated and subjected to water erosion processes especially rill and interrill erosion. There is no information on the rate of these water erosion types in semi-arid soils located in the hillslopes. Therefore, this study was conducted to determine the soils susceptibility to these erosion types in semi-arid region. A laboratory experiment was done in ei...
متن کاملAssessment of the important Factors on Gully Erosion in Arid and Semi-arid Region in Ilam Province
Infiltration is the process of water penetration from the ground surface into the soil and is an important process in the hydrological cycle by which surface runoff and groundwater recharge can be linked. Over the years, the importance of the infiltration process resulted in the development of several simplified analytical models for predicting infiltration. These infiltration models range from...

15 صفحه اولTemporal variation of interrill erosion under different rainfall intensities in semi-arid soils
Interrill erosion can change during rainfall due to change of soil conditions. This research was carried out to investigate the temporal variation of interrill erosion in different soils under different rainfall intensities. For this purpose, laboratory experiments were carried out in three soil textures consists under three simulated rainfalls under slope of 10 percent in three replications...
